Read: 2 Samuel 6:12-23
Light as a feather...this was how David H. Roper of RBC Ministries described David when he danced before the Lord with all his might (v 14), leaping and whirling (v 16) , and offering burnt and peace offerings, and blessing the people of Israel in the name of the Lord of Hosts (v 18).
To some, like Michal or the truly conservative sectors of our generation, this would seem undignified (v 20) but to David and, to me as well, this is just an expression of his joy in communing and worshiping God, dancing and singing from the heart, showing his great love for his Master, Creator, Friend, Ally, Provider, Protector and The Most Glorious Father in all of heaven and earth.
How wonderful it is to feel "light as a feather", no more heavy and worrisome baggages in tow, spirit flying up high seemingly reaching the highest of heavens, buoyant and free, displaying a somewhat youthful exuberance, exhilarating with joy and laughter, cheerful and singing as the birds of the air, showing love to everyone, floating aimlessly and carefree, feeling the warmth of God's embrace...WOW! that's the most amazing experience ever!
